Gaurav Sood beats Gokul Raj to win PokerStars Wednesday Stars

PokerStars, with their launch of their Indian presence back in April last year, has surged to laudable feats since then. They signed on Nawazuddin Siddiqui as their brand ambassador this year and had even entered mainstream advertising.

Their regular feature tournaments, which are ever popular, are a great way of engagement for the community, and always attract the top talents of the country. The Wednesday feature tournament on PokerStars India is the Wednesday Stars INR 8 Lakhs GTD, which was hosted again yesterday.

The tournament saw a total field of 313 entries (including 136 re-entries), bringing in the best of the best of the industry. The tournament began at 8 pm yesterday evening and was in the books by 3.12 am today morning. The top 53 places were paid out of the prize pool, with the min-cash being INR 5,082.

Gaurav Sood aka ‘3betPanda’, regular community player, overcame the field and shipped the title, taking home INR 1,50,272 as the first-place cash prize. He beat another acclaimed grinder Gokul Raj aka ‘Haxton Jr’ in heads-up to secure his victory and Raj settled for INR 1,10,149 as the second-place cash prize.

Sood has shipped numerous titles and has been on a roll since the last couple of months. He shipped Adda52 Mega Suits last month and earned INR 7.2 Lakhs as first-place cash prize. The PPL Special Edition is underway and there too, he bagged The Bout for ~INR 5.6 Lakhs. He is looking quite strong in the scene and will probably bring in more titles in coming months.

Gutshot contacted Sood who said, “It was good shipping a tournament on PokerStars after so long. Wins like these motivate me to work harder and harder and I’m glad that I made through a tough Final Table yesterday, running well of course!“

The field consisted of the top pros, given PokerStars reputation. Some of them to finish ITM include Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting.ind’ (3^rd – INR 80,739), Rubin Labroo aka ‘kornkid4’ (8^th – INR 17,0840) and Sagar Choudhury aka ‘sagarpupull’ (10^th – INR 9,179).

Others include Arsh Grover aka ‘BiggggTymeR’ (14^th – INR 7,673), PokerStars Pro Aditya Agarwal aka ‘Aditya Agarwal’ (23^rd), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘inaboobham’ (28^th), this week’s Super Tuesday winner Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid’ (34^th), Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘b00mtr00p3r’ (37^th), and others.
