Paytm First Games (PFG) announces a partnership with Esports Players League (ESPL) in order to organize mobile gaming tournaments in India. ESPL is a global esports platform based in Singapore. The organization was formed in 2019 with an aim to give novice gamers an opportunity to choose a career in gaming. ESPL has presence in 16 countries across Asia, America, and Europe.
While PFG is one of India’s fastest growing gaming platforms and has around half a million active users a day. The collaboration between the two will first focus on launching mobile gaming tournaments and will eventually cover all esports platforms.
Chief operating officer of PFG, Sudhanshu Gupta, gave a statement regarding this partnership and explained that esports in India is already growing at a rapid pace. While the current pandemic also further boosted its growth and opened up an opportunity to create a vast esports ecosystem. Adding to this, CEO of ESPL, Michael Broda, said that the large number of mobile gamers in the country, along with the addition of 5G made it a natural target for esports tournament organizers.
Just after the news of PFG and ESPL’s partnership, Airtel and NODWIN Gaming also announced their partnership to launch the Airtel Esports Tour. The deal was made in order to take esports in India to the next level. NODWIN Gaming is an esports company that brought DreamHack, a global tournament, to India. Games like CS:GO, PUBG Moblie, FIFA are among the plethora of games that the Airtel Esports Tour aims to cover.
While the esports industry is still at its nascent stage, the entry of international companies like ESPL and NODWIN Gaming is a good way to further grow the industry.
