Amazon CEO Designate Andy Jassy To Focus On Company’s Video Games Business

Jeff Bezos reportedly announced that he will be stepping down from his post as CEO. This news took everyone by surprise as not many in the industry were expecting Bezos to step down. Further, the news reports add that an email from Andy Jassy (successor to Bezos) is making the rounds on the world wide web wherein he has committed himself to boosting the firm’s video games business. The email is crucial as it comes at a time when Google took a tough call of shutting down its gaming development vertical.

The email by Jassy which was sent to the Amazon staff states that while some businesses do well in the first year while others firms may take many years to witness success. He said, “Though we haven’t consistently succeeded yet in AGS (Amazon Games Studios), I believe we will if we hang in there.” This message is viewed as an approval for Mike Frazzini who is the head at AGS. 9to5Google quoted the email, which hints that Amazon is planning to go full throttle with its video games arm. The news reports further add that the company did not feel that global gaming markets were optimistic previously.

Amazon reportedly seems to have put on its blinders and focus on its game development, as it has AWS to host its video games offering and go full swing in that direction. A news report by Bloomberg has quoted unnamed sources which hint that Jassy’s email was actually a response to another communication sent by Frazzini, wherein he tried to address queries and questions on AGS’s work culture. News reports further state that cases related to women employees feeling alienated and quitting the company came to light. Amazon had ventured into the video games market in the year 2012, a move which was backed by Jeff Bezos. The company has reportedly flushed out billions of dollars into development of video games.
