10 Nepali nationals held for gambling in Palghar, Maharashtra

Yet another case about gambling has surfaced as 10 Nepali nationals were arrested in Palghar. The lockdown has affected individuals in a very severe manner as several people have resorted to gambling in order to make easy money or for leisure during this pandemic.

Based on a tip-off, on Saturday night the police raided the premises of Palghar and nabbed 10 individuals that were involved in gambling. The men that were nabbed were between the age group of 22 to 38 years. Police spokesperson Sachin Navadkar said, “We have registered a case against them under provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act.”

This case is similar to the one that occured during the course of the lasdt few months where Chinese nationals were duping in the name of online gambling. The Hyderabad police on Thursday arrested four individuals in a crackdown on an illegal gambling racket run by a Chinese company. Among the four arrested was Yah Hao, a Chinese national and three Indians identified as Dheeraj Sarkar, Ankit Kapoor and Neeraj Tuli.  Yah Hao was the online firm’s operations head from Southeast Asia while the three Indians were directors of the same.

The four of them were arrested by the Hyderabad police in Delhi after Chinese individuals and companies were raided by income tax sleuths in Delhi, Gurugram and Noida on suspicion of laundering money. The online gambling was allegedly organised by ‘Beijing T Power Company’, a Chinese enterprise. The police seized INR 1,1oo Crores from the raid and mentioned that most of transactions took place mainly during the lockdown. The case is still under scrutiny

The number of gambling cases have surely been on a rise and one of the prime reasons that could have contributed is the nationwide lockdown. One can only expect that the situation is brought under control at the earliest and individuals get to resume working as and when they can. To get an update on such cases, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com!
