In the 21-day Coronavirus lockdown, Dharmendra Sonkar was sitting outside his house in Bhantalaiya area of the city when the incident took place. The cops have arrested the gunman and suspected enmity over an illegal gambling den which led to the entire scenario. The cops detained the accused, Monu alias Reva Sonkar.

This isn’t the first time that the Monu has been accused, he is also been charged previously for other two murder cases. The entire situation occurred due to a dispute related to the running of an illegal gambling den. However, sources said that the whole incident has been recorded on CCTV cameras fitted at the spot.

In May 2019, police raided a house owned by Sushil Malgujar near the Madhotel Police Station in Jabalpur city. The raid was successful as cops apprehended 5 gamblers and seized INR 48,500 from the spot along with playing cards and tabulation sheet. Eventually, a case under Section 13 of Gambling Act was framed against the individuals.

However, in the current case, the investigations are underway and additional forces have been deployed in the area to maintain the law and order situation.
