Flashback: When Rishabh Vekaria Won DPT For A Cool 30 Lakh

Adda52 and Deltin’s association to host the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) has shown immense success ever since its inception. From 2016 till date the tournament series has only kept growing bigger and bolder with each edition. There have been several winners across all the editions who have defied tough odds to emerge victorious and have their names etched in poker history.

One such winner is Rishabh Vekaria, the winner of DPT 2019 Main Event. But among so many winners, what is it that makes Vekaria stand out? Well, this Gujarat based player was a newcomer aboard the Deltin Royale casino amid the sea of seasoned pros and recreational players. Vekaria who’s known to be a cash game player recorded his first ever tournament title and how! By defeating Ankur Sehgal, a well-known name in the poker circuit in the heads-up clash. This 38-year-old player shipped the coveted ₹35,000 buy-in Main Event after outsmarting an  entry field of 448 players. Vekaria who’s primarily into family business took a pay cheque worth ₹30,00,000 after grabbing the title.

Back then, the event recorded the second-largest Main Event player field. Held in July during monsoons made this edition a little difficult due to travel issues, however, the spirits were high and the crowd turned up with utmost excitement.

After two successful days, 14 players returned for Day 3. It had some of the top names including poker pro Paawan Bansal, who started off as the chip leader, Anup Palod, Arjanveer Singh Chadha, Gaurav Sood, Anil Adiani, Pradeep Sharma, Ritesh Khatwani, Anmol Chawla, Siddarth Singhvi among others.

Bansal was a strong contender throughout Day 3 and had even made his way to the final table, however, he lost all his chips in just two levels and fell in the seventh place for ₹5 Lakh.

Palod, who came into Day 3 with the seventh-highest stack, finished third for a personal-best score of ₹13.80 Lakh.

Final Table Payouts:

  1. Rishabh Vekaria – ₹30,00,000
  2. Ankur Sehgal – ₹21,00,000
  3. Anup Palod – ₹13,80,000
  4. Tarun Goyal – ₹9,30,000
