One of the worst campaigns in Premier League history is Sheffield United’s 2020/21 season. They managed to get just 23 points in 38 games, including seven wins and two draws. They scored just 20 goals in the entire season while conceding 63 goals. The Blades managed to win games against Newcastle United, Manchester United, West Brom, Aston Villa, Brighton, Everton, and Burnley while drawing against Fulham and Brighton.

Norwich City managed to get just 22 points in the 2021/22 season of the Premier League. This marked one of the worst seasons in the history of the league. The club managed to win just five games in that season while also getting seven draws. They ended the season with a goal difference of -61, having scored 23 goals and conceded 84 goals. In the 2021/22 season, Norwich City won against Brentford, Southampton, Everton, Watford, and Burnley while drawing against Burnley, Brighton, Wolves, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Wolves.

Norwich City’s name comes up while talking about the worst Premier League campaigns, not just once but twice. They won five and drew six games to accumulate a total of 21 points. They scored 26 goals that season while conceding 75, ending with a goal difference of -49. The Canaries managed to win against Newcastle United, Manchester City, Everton, Bournemouth, and Leicester City, while drawing against Bournemouth, Arsenal, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United.
Portsmouth is the first team on this list to score less than 20 points in a Premier League season. They actually managed to get 28 points that season, having won seven and drawn seven games but were docked nine points for entering administration, which made their points tally 19 for the season. They scored 34 and conceded 66 goals, ending with a goal difference of -32. They won against Wolves, Wigan Athletic, Burnley, Liverpool, Burnley, Hull City, and Wolves while drawing against Hull City, Sunderland, West Ham, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, and Bolton Wanderers.
Sunderland had one of the worst campaigns in Premier League history in the 2002/03 season. They became the first team to score under 20 points in the history of the league. They scored just 21 goals while conceding 65 of them, ending with a goal difference of -44. They ended up winning four and drawing seven games. The wins came against Leeds United, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, while the draws came against Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic, Liverpool, West Brom, and Blackburn Rovers. Interestingly enough, all the positive results came on or before 11th January 2003, with the club losing every game in the league after that.

Aston Villa managed just 17 points in the entire 2015/16 Premier League season. They won just three games while drawing eight games. They ended the season having scored 27 and conceded 76 games, ending with a goal difference of -49. Villa managed to win against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and Norwich City while drawing against Sunderland, Manchester City, Southampton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Leicester City, West Brom, and Newcastle United.

Huddersfield Town had a disastrous campaign during the 2018/19 Premier League season. They won three and drew seven games, ending with a total of 16 points in the entirety of the season. They scored just 22 goals while conceding 76, ending with a goal difference of -54. Huddersfield managed to win against Fulham and twice against Wolves while drawing to Cardiff City, Everton, Burnley, West Ham United, Cardiff City, Manchester United, and Southampton.

Sheffield United managed to achieve the third lowest points total in the history of the Premier League. They ended the season with 16 points, matching the points tally of Huddersfield Town from 2018/19, but ended with a lower goal difference. They scored 35 goals while conceding a massive 104 goals, ending with a goal difference of -69. They won three and drew seven games, which included wins against Wolves, Brentford, and Luton Town and draws against Everton, Brighton, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Bournemouth, Fulham, and Chelsea.
Sunderland achieved just 15 points in the entirety of their Premier League campaign in the 2005/06 season. They won just three games while drawing six of them. They scored 26 goals in the season while conceding 69, ending with a goal difference of -43. Sunderland won against Middlesbrough, West Brom, and Fulham while drawing against West Brom, West Ham United, Bolton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and Manchester United.

Derby County’s 2007/08 Premier League campaign is widely recognised as the worst season by any team since the inception of the Premier League. They managed to get just 11 points in the entire season, which included just one win and eight draws. They scored 20 goals and conceded 89 goals in the season, ending with a goal difference of -69. Derby’s sole win came against Newcastle United, while their eight draws came against Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Birmingham City, Sunderland, and Fulham.
