Mumbai will be eager to pick up their 42nd Ranji Trophy title when they square off against Madhya Pradesh at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Prithvi Shaw will look to lead the team to victory while Madhya Pradesh relies on Aditya Shrivastava to captain the side towards their maiden Ranji Trophy triumph.
Unlike the domestic heavyweights, Madhya Pradesh finds themselves in the Ranji Trophy final only for the second time with their first appearance coming in 1998-99 when they took on Karnataka. Head coach Chandrakant Pandit will be hopeful of recreating the success he tasted with Mumbai back in 2003 and 2004 when he picked up 2 consecutive Ranji Trophy titles with the current Madhya Pradesh side. However, Pandit will have to take on Amol Muzumdar’s army, who are deemed to be the overwhelming favorites in the final.
Mumbai have been one of the top performing teams this season. Shaw had led the team from the front taking charge at the top along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who registered three centuries in the quarterfinal and semifinal. Sarfaraz Khan is the leading run scorer in the tournament while Arman Jaffer has also played a crucial role for Mumbai in the season.
Apart from a solid batting attack, Mumbai have also come packing a highly underrated spin duo of Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian. While Mulani has bagged 37 wickets, amassing 292 runs, Kotian has claimed 18 wickets and scored 236 runs so far this season. The duo’s ability to win crunch games has come in handy for the 41-time Ranji trophy winners this time around.

Madhya Pradesh, on the other hand has been growing with each performance and come out to be one of the most improved teams. Their ability to reach the Ranji Trophy final is a testament to the teams’ growth as a unit under a strong coach. Despite missing the likes of Avesh Khan and Venkatesh Iyer. The 2-time Ranji trophy finalists will be eager to put up a fight.
Mumbai will be wary of Kumar Kartikeya, with the spinner boosting the ability of changing the game for his team. Madhya Pradesh will rely on Kartikeya to join hands with Saransh Jain once again and get the job done. With Royal Challengers Bangalore star Rajat Patidar, also in the ranks, MP do have a chance to claim their maiden title.
