Will Dipendra Singh Airee Bag His First IPL Contract?

Dipendra Singh Airee etched his name in history after the Nepal batter scored his 50 from just nine balls! Yes, you read it right, the batter broke Yuvraj Singh’s record, which saw the Indian all-rounder register a half-century in just 14 balls against England back in 2007.

The Nepalese star created history on 27 September 2023, when his team broke multiple records. They have registered the highest score by any cricket team in T20Is after reaching 314/3 against Mongolia in the Asian Games 2023. They broke the previous record, which was Afghanistan’s 278/3 vs. Ireland. 

It is also worth noting that Dipendra Singh Airee’s record won’t be broken and can only be equalled, as no player can surpass those numbers. It’s quite clear that Dipendra Singh Airee packs a powerful punch with the bat and is one of the biggest rising stars in Nepal’s current team.

Dipendra Singh Airee Career

Dipendra Singh Airee first gathered the spotlight when he played in the U-19 World Cup in 2016. Later on, he made his senior team debut as a 17-year-old against Kenya in 2017. Despite starting his senior team career exclusively as a batter – Dipendra Singh Airee got opportunities to roll his arm over as well. 

Later, his disciplined off spin became a staple for Nepal, which saw him regularly bowl a full quota of overs. His ability to be economical, as well as a wicket-taker, helped him cement a spot in the team despite some patchy batting form in the past.

There’s more to the 23-year-old, with his electric fielding known as his biggest asset. Whether working inside the ring during the powerplay overs or on the boundary at the death, Airee has managed to pull off some spectacular run-outs and sensational catches.

Citing his all-round performances, Indian Premier League (IPL) teams will surely be making notes of the young player’s progress. Dipendra Singh Airee was part of the 15-player group that registered for the IPL 2023 auction but failed to get any bids his way.
