Chris Lynn could see Cricket Australia stand in his way to participate in the ILT20 with the Australian cricket board set to focus on retaining star players for their domestic competition. The Big Bash League (BBL) already saw a lot of stars miss out in the draft for the upcoming season. The likes of Alex Hales and James were unveiled as signings of the UAE based league which will run head-to-head to the BBL next year.
Alongside the duo, there have been a total of 54 players that were named in the first draft who are all set to play in the UAE based T20 league. Unsurprisingly, David Warner was not among list with the former Aussie captain set to get a deal to play in the BBL, leaving Lynn as only Australian who has signed up to play in ILT20 so far.
Cricket Australia could block Chris Lynn’s plans to play in the UAE-based franchise cricket league International League T20. They are expected to take such a step in order to preserve and protect the integrity of the Big Bash League. It will also help the league in keeping the interest of the fans alive in Australia’s best domestic T20 tournament.
Chris Lynn is currently without a BBL deal as he parted ways with Brisbane Heat after the last season. His involvement in ILT20 would require the 32 year old to obtain a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from Cricket Australia. as per International Cricket Council regulations. However, the batter is yet to apply for the same with ICC demanding players to get a NOC from their country’s cricket board before participating in any foreign leagues.

Despite being named as one of 21 marquee players to feature in the UAE’s International League T20 on Monday, Chris Lynn is yet to apply for clearance. Cricket Australia has also claimed that they have not received any application for NOCs so far.
“Cricket Australia has not received any applications for No Objection Certificates pertaining to a player’s participation in any overseas competitions for the upcoming season. Our guiding principle remains the prioritisation and protection of Australia’s domestic summer of cricket and the interests of the game overall. As such, NOCs are generally only issued for the period after the Australian season has finished,” Cricket Australia’s spokeperson said.
