Darshan Nalkande is a skilled young fast bowler from Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region. He began his career as a bowler but progressed to become a batsman and all-rounder. He was named to India’s under-19 team for the Youth Asia Cup and was also named to the World Cup squad’s probables. His performance in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy pushed him into the spotlight.
The Indian team’s selectors recognised him for his performance by selecting him for the Vijay Hazare League squad. Here, he honed his skills and got off to a terrific start against Maharashtra, capturing two wickets for 26 runs and batting an unbeaten 53.

He then made his Ranji Trophy debut, which happened to be against Maharashtra. He’s played only two games but has already demonstrated toughness. Darshan was called up to the Kings XI Punjab trials and impressed with his all-round abilities, prompting the team to sign him in the auctions.
Nalkande started strongly in a Qualifier match between the Gujarat Titans and Chennai SuperKings. He got Ruturaj Gaikwad caught at mid-wicket after two balls. The stadium fell silent as Nalkande began to celebrate his major breakthrough of the inning.
However, his entire effort was wasted when the umpire called a no-ball. After that, fate favoured Gaikwad, and he began charging up against his balling. It was a tremendous letdown for him, and he began to appear nervous.
After learning about the scenario, Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya and coach Ashish Nehra came to calm him down and assist him restore confidence to continue. As a result of this comfort, Nalkande’s second over went well, giving only 8 runs on a powerplay.
Notably, he was the only change made by the Gujarat Titans for the playoffs, with the 24-year-old getting the nod over Yash Dayal.
