What to Expect During India vs South Africa 1st ODI

The Men in Blue will head into the India vs South Africa first ODI following a successful T20I series win over the Proteas. The hosts recorded a massive 2-1 win in the shortest format of the game and will now take on their opponents in a three-match ODI series with the first clash set to take place in Lucknow on 6th October. 

Shikhar Dhawan is set to lead the Indian cricket team in the India vs South Africa ODI series with the squad being completely different as most of the players have already flown off to Australia and begin their preparations for the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup.

India vs South Africa First ODI

Dhawan’s recently captained India to series win over recently defeated West Indies and Zimbabwe. He will hope to keep the winning momentum going, despite missing many senior pros in the team. The South African side, on the other end, will look to make a comeback in the series after losing the T20Is.

 The upcoming match could see India hand debuts to a lot of fresh faces in the first ODI. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Rahul Tripathi could well be in the mix and find themselves in the playing XI during the India vs South Africa ODI series. Rajat Patidar, who also earned his first national team call up is also expected to get game time alongside Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar.

The first ODI is scheduled to kick start at 1:30 PM (IST) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Rain could play a spoilsport during the clash with scattered thunderstorms predicted during the duration of the India vs South Africa 1st ODI.
