The members of the West Indies and the Indian cricket team have been officially cleared to travel to the United States of America. There was a lot of confusion surrounding the visa approvals for a few players over the last few days However, all the members of both teams have received their travel approvals and were handed their US Visas.
Indian players, who did not have their visa, had flown down to Georgetown in Guyana after the third T20I for their interviews with the US Embassy. It is leant that India head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma were part of the group that flew down to Georgetown. While the likes of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav and Suryakumar Yadav had already visa flew down to Miami in a charter flight with their teammates set to join them on Thursday.
The president of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Ricky Skerritt thanked the Guyana Government President for his diplomatic efforts. Irfaan Ali had intervened in the matter and ensured that all the paperwork was complete for members of both teams as they flew into Georgetown after the third T20I in St Kitts on Sunday.
Ricky Skerritt was quoted by Cricbuzz saying, “It was a timely and influential diplomatic effort by His Excellency. They can fly only tomorrow afternoon. All Visa applications have been approved but passports are not to be returned until this afternoon.

The CWI president also went on to add that delaying the charter to Miami would have seen the cricket board find themselves greater financial risk. He added, “All that the CWI could do has been done. Last night’s charter to Miami, for those previously with visas, was at greater financial risk to delay it than to operate it as previously planned.”
The ongoing white ball series between India and West Indies has been heavily affected by logistical issues. It started off with the second T20I as the match in St Kitts had to be delayed by three hours with team kits arriving late from Trinidad. It also resulted in the third T20I being pushed back by 90 minutes to provide sufficient recovery time for the players.
With all the issues sorted out, India and West Indies will go on to play the final 2 games of their 5-match T2oI series in the USA as planned this weekend. The Central Broward Park, in Lauderhill, Florida is not new to hosting India as they have squared off at the venue during their every tour to the USA since 2016.
