Virat Kohli Wins His First Ever ICC Player Of The Month Award

Virat Kohli won the ICC Player of the Month Award following his excellent performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. The former India captain had quite a few memorable outings in October 2022 as he managed to edge out the likes of Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and David Miller from South Africa to win the title for the first time in his career.

The 34-year-old has been one of the best players in the shortest format of the game and displayed his skills in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Despite playing just four innings in October, Virat Kohli managed to score 205 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate in the region of 150. It includes two fifties which consist of 82* against Pakistan in India’s first game of the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli’s knock against the Men in Green is touted to be one of the best innings he has ever played. The Delhi-based cricketer managed to score 82 not out of just 53 balls, single-handedly taking the game away from Babar Azam’s men in a stunning chase at a jam-packed Melbourne Cricket Ground.

He continued to fare well in the tournament and managed to get runs against Bangladesh and Netherlands as well. He is currently the highest run-getter at the T20 World Cup 2022 and has been awarded for his excellent performances in Australia.

The former Indian skipper was quoted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after was adjudged as the winner of the ICC award. He said, “It is a great honour for me to have been voted the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October. Being chosen as the standout player by fans across the globe as well as the panel makes this accolade even more special for me.”

Apart from Virat Kohli, Pakistan’s Nida Dar was announced as the winner of the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award. She managed to record a jaw-dropping average of 72.50, scoring 145 runs in October 2022 while taking eight wickets.

Her all-round performances played a crucial role in Pakistan’s Women’s Asia Cup campaign in Bangladesh. Dar won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award by pimping out Jeremiah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma, who were also in contention following their Women’s Asia Cup triumph earlier.
