Former India captain and Virat Kohli has often been seen sharing a great camaraderie with MS Dhoni. The duo has often been in the news with the world knowing about the mutual respect they share for each other. The bond between Dhoni and Kohli remains strong with the 33-year-old recently reminiscing about the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman on social media.
Virat Kohli paid a heartfelt tribute to MS Dhoni on 25th August ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup match between India vs Pakistan. The 33-year-old shared a picture with India’s 2011 World Cup winning captain which sent Twitter into a tizzy. The middle order batter reminisced about being Dhoni’s ‘deputy’ and captioned the post which caught the eyes of the Twitterati.
Kohli took to Twitter and wrote “Being this man’s trusted deputy was the most enjoyable and exciting period in my career. Our partnerships would always be special to me forever. 7+18”. The image in his tweet is from the T20 World Cup in 2016 when India played Australia at Mohali. Kohli had smashed 82* from 51 balls helping the Men in Blue secure a six-wicket win.

It is also important to note the special mention Kohli did of the jersey numbers, with Dhoni donning the number 7 jersey with Kohli wearing jersey number 18. The jersey numbers ‘7′ and ’18’ adds up to ’25’, which was the date (August 25) of the post as well.

Kohli was Dhoni’s long-time deputy before taking over as the all format skipper in 2017. The middle order batter was groomed by Dhoni as the leader with Kohli also seen approaching and taking opinion of the former India skipper in the middle of a game.
The 33-year-old will soon be playing his 100th T20I match. He was rested for India’s white ball series against West Indies and Zimbabwe and is set to return to action in the upcoming Asia Cup. Virat Kohli is set to take the field for India when they take on Pakistan at the Dubai International stadium on 28th August.
