Virat Kohli Celebrates 14 Years In International Cricket

On 18^th August 2022, Virat Kohli completed 14 years in the international arena. The middle order batter made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2008 against Sri Lanka as a 19 year old and the rest is history. After completing 14 years of international cricket, Kohli took a trip down memory lane.  The former India skipper shared a post on his Instagram account on Thursday with the reel featuring few of his most iconic moments.

Virat Kohli captioned the post stating, “14 years ago, it all started and it’s been an honour,” with an Indian flag. The 33-year-old uploaded a short video which had a few clips showing some memorable moments from his cricketing career. The reel included images from India’s various triumphs as well as the celebrations during the 2013 Champions Trophy. Fans could also see a young Kohli alongside Sachin Tendulkar as the Men in Blue celebrated the 2011 ODI World Cup title.

Virat Kohli has been one of the best batsmen in the international arena. The right-handed batsman has 70 centuries against his name having amassed a total of 23,726 runs across all the three formats of the game. Talking about Kohli’s accomplishments, the 33-year-old has been named as ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Decade. He was also awarded as ICC’s Cricketer of the Year twice while also being conferred with the Arjuna Award, Khel Ratna award as well as the Padma Shri.

Virat Kohli has always led the team from the front, playing a certain brand of aggressive cricket, especially in Tests. He is considered one of the greatest captains of India for leading the Men in Blue to various victories during away tours in the longest format of the game. Kohli also often put himself in the line of fire, defending his players or the team and has never shied away from expressing thoughts.

The Delhi-based star is currently on a break from cricket. He was rested from the ongoing tour against Zimbabwe. However the 33 year old is all set to return in for the Men in Blue during the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2022. Kohli is expected to play his 100th T20I match in the first match of 6 nation tournament which will be against arch rivals Pakistan on August 28.
