Virat Kohli Becomes RCB Captain Despite Faf du Plessis’ Availability?

Virat Kohli returned as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain ahead of their clash against Punjab Kings( PBKS) in IPL 2023! The former Indian skipper turned back time and walked out to lead his side for the first time since IPL 2021.

It is also worth noting that regular team captain Faf du Plessis is still playing in the game, Speaking with the media during the toss, Kohli explained how du Plessis would be one of RCB’s Impact players for the game. Kohli revealed that du Plessis sustained an injury during the previous outing and has a bruised rib, resulting in him not being able to take the field. He added how he was replaced by seamer Vyshak Vijaykumar at the innings break.

Kohli is back as RCB captain after a gap of 556 days! The Indian middle order star’s last match as captain was on 11th October 2021. After that, He has been played for the team as a regular player while Faf came in. He has been the regular captain at Royal Challengers in 2013 and the only player in RCB to play for them since the since the first season of  IPL.
