Virat Kohli has some of the best statistics the cricketing world has ever seen. Therefore, it does not come as a surprise to anyone that he has just achieved two more milestones. Before the IPL 2024 opening game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kohli was incredibly close to achieving two milestones. All he needed was to score 15 runs to achieve both milestones in one game.
The first milestone was 12,000 runs in T20s. Virat Kohli was just six runs shy from achieving this milestone before he played against CSK. Kohli comfortably got the six runs he needed, becoming the first Indian in history to get past the 12,000-run mark in T20s. Virat Kohli managed to achieve this feat in just 377 games. This makes him the second-faster player ever to reach 12,000 runs. The only player who did it quicker than him is Chris Gayle, who did so in 353 games.

If one milestone was not enough, Kohli managed to break two milestones in one game. The Indian batsman had scored 985 runs in 31 games against Chennai Super Kings before facing them in the IPL opener. This meant that Kohli needed just 15 runs to reach the 1,000-run mark against CSK. The RCB star managed to get past 15, achieving his second milestone of the day.
Virat Kohli is a player of unbelievable skill and hard work. He has broken many records and achieved many milestones, but one milestone keeps eluding him. Kohli has never managed to win the Indian Premier League trophy, and this is one of the biggest milestones he will be eyeing this year. He has started out the IPL season with two milestones, and he will hope that he also ends the season by achieving another feat, i.e., winning the IPL trophy.
