Unbelievable Cricket records held by Indians

“Unique” becomes an understatement when it comes to the love of Indians for cricket. All of us cricket lovers have seen some form of unique love being displayed for players on and off the field. Unique is also the correct word when discussing about the records Indian players hold.

Here are some very interesting records that Indian players hold:

1. The Finisher

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s favourite captain is known for finishing off matches with his signature sixes. The lad from Ranchi has finished off a match with his trademark shot on as many as 9 occasions which also are the maximum amount of matches in ODI to be finished with a six by any player

2. The Maiden Inning

On June, 11, 2016, KL Rahul, who hit an elegant century on ODI debut against Zimbabwe in Harare, became the first player in cricket history to score a hundred in his maiden innings as an opening batsman in both Tests and One Day Internationals.

3. The Master-Blaster

Everyone in India is aware of the aura of the “Cricket God” as he is titled. and we wouldn’t be surprised if he too, held a record. Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer to complete the rare triple of 15000 runs (18426), 100 wickets (154) and 100 catches (140) in One Day Internationals. Amongst a list of records that he holds, he also stands to be the player to play 200 games in the history of test cricket.

4. The Run Scorer

It would be rather unfair o break the Tendulkar-Sehwag Jodi here by not mentioning both their records. Virender Sehwag is the only cricketer to have made more than 7500 runs in both ODIs and Tests as an opening batsman.

5. The Catcher

Ajinkya Rahane, a brilliant fielder, created a world record by becoming the first non-keeper cricketer to take eight catches in a Test match.

6. The Baller

he longest unbroken spell in Test cricket was bowled by Narendra Hirwani of India against England in 1990 at The Oval in London. The leg-spinner delivered 59 overs or 354 balls without a break (except for scheduled intervals) in the fourth and the final innings of the contest.
