Umran Malik Replaces Natarajan As COVID-19 Substitute For Sunrisers Hyderabad: Young Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik was on Friday included in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a short period as a replacement for COVID-19-infected player T Natarajan. Left-arm fast bowler Natarajan was found positive in the COVID-19 test before the match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued from the IPL, “Sunrisers Hyderabad have named medium-pacer Umran Malik as a short-term COVID-19 substitute for T Natarajan for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign. 

Malik has played one T20 and one List A match for Jammu and Kashmir. This 21-year-old bowler has taken four wickets in these matches. He is already a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad as a net bowler.

According to the release, “Under Article 6.1(c), the franchisee is required to agree with a short-term alternate player until the original team member is permitted to re-enter the team’s bio-secure environment (bio-bubble). 

According to it, “Malik will be a part of the team till Natarajan recovers and is allowed to join the team.”

Natarajan is currently kept in isolation for 10 days and will have to test negative twice before coming back to the bio-bubble. The 30-year-old left-arm fast bowler has taken 20 wickets in 24 IPL matches.
