The Indian national cricket team had a poor outing against Australia in the First T20I as they suffered from a 4 wicket loss. Despite amassing a huge total of 208 runs, the hosts were unable to restrict the visitors, who chased down the 2nd highest successful chase in T20Is at the PCA stadium in Mohali.
The Indian pace bowling trio of Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Harshal Patel were dominated by the Australian batters from the start with the visitors’ score reading at 60/1 until the powerplay overs. Kumar conceded 15 and 16 runs in his last two overs, while Patel conceded a 22-run over at the back end of the innings.
Bhuvneshwar ended up letting go 52 runs in his spell, with Patel ending with figures of 4-0-49-0 his four overs. Citing the poor bowling by the duo, the pacers have come under heavy scrutiny by the Indian cricket fans on Twitter.

Harshal Patel also had a subpar day on the field which also drew some criticism. The Men in Blue dropped a total of three catches in the second innings, which were critical ones as Cameron Green and Matthew Wade went on to snatch the game away for India.

Fans have also abused Gautam Gambhir as the former India opener had earlier defended Bhuvneshwar Kumar last week. He had stated, “When Kohli got a 100 (at Asia Cup) and there was this young guy (Bhuvneshwar) from a small town of Meerut, who also managed to get five wickets, no one even bothered to speak about him. This was so unfortunate. I was the only one, during that commentary stint, who said that. He bowled four overs and got five wickets and I don’t think anyone knows about that.”
Cut to Tuesday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 16 runs in the penultimate over with his figures reading 4-0-52-0. This has lead to fans taking a dig at Gambhir alongside the continued bashing towards the India’s premier fast bowler alongside Harshal Patel.
