James Anderson had one of the best matches of his career against South Africa in 2020. England and South Africa went head-to-head at Newlands stadium in Cape Town, a game in which England beat their opponents comfortably. England absolutely thrashed India in the game that took place on 10th August 2018 at Lord’s. India started batting, making a mere 107 runs in their first innings. Anderson bowled extremely well, picking up five wickets (Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ishant Sharma) and conceding just 20 runs. England ended up winning this test by an innings and 159 runs.
This test match between England and Sri Lanka is the same as the one in which James Anderson picked up five wickets and conceded just 29 runs in Sri Lanka’s second innings. However, the fast bowler had an even better showing in Sri Lanka’s first innings. He took the wickets of Kaushal Silva, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Rangana Herath, and Shaminda Eranga while conceding just 16 runs. His performances in both the innings helped England achieve a huge win.
One of Jimmy Anderson’s best performances came against Australia on 29th July 2015. Australia batted first, but their first-inning score was limited to 281 thanks to James Anderson’s brilliant spells. The pacer conceded just 47 runs in 14.4 overs and picked up six wickets (David Warner, Adam Voges, Mitchell Marsh, Peter Nevill, Mitchell Johnson, and Nathan Lyon.

In a test match against West Indies in 2015, James Anderson managed impressive figures of 6/42. He picked up the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Veerasammy Permaul, and Jerome Taylor. He conceded just 42 runs in 12.4 overs, helping England limit West Indies to a score of 189. However, West Indies managed to come back in the second innings and won the test by five wickets.
England faced Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium on 22nd January 2021. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 381, a score that would have been even higher if James Anderson had not performed spectacularly. The pacer picked up six wickets in total, including the wickets of Sri Lanka’s top four batsmen. England ended up winning the game by six wickets.
This incredibly impressive haul of 6/17 for Jimmy Anderson came in England’s match against Pakistan on 29th July 2010. Pakistan was struggling in the first innings as well, but James Anderson completely demolished them in the second innings. Anderson conceded a mere 17 runs and picked up the wickets of Imran Farhat, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Umar Gul, and Mohammad Asif, helping England bowl out Pakistan for just 80 runs and eventually win the game by a whopping 354 runs.

James Anderson helped England achieve one of their biggest wins over New Zealand. England scored 364 in the first innings, and Anderson put on a show in the bowling department. He picked up seven wickets (Jamie How, Aaron Redmond, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor, Daniel Flynn, Gareth Hopkins, and Jacob Oram) in 21.3 overs while conceding 43 runs. Incidentally, he also picked up the top seven batsmen in New Zealand’s batting order, helping England win by an innings and nine runs.
England beat West Indies by nine wickets in a test match which took between the two on 7th September 2017 at Lord’s. James Anderson managed to get his best-ever figures in the second innings against West Indies. He picked up the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell, Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Devendra Bishoo, and Kemar Roach. He conceded just 42 runs, helping England to the win.
