TOI launches new Fantasy Sports & Quiz apps

The Times of India has recently launched two new apps for quizzing and fantasy cricket called BrainBaazi and CricPlay respectively. BrainBaazi is a real-time mobile quiz application that allows users to answer trivia questions every day and win cash prizes into their PayTM & Mobikwik wallets daily.

On the other hand, CricPlay is a free-to-play fantasy cricket mobile application meant for fantasy cricket lovers who can register, create their teams for free and win real cash prizes. Also, users can predict daily match results to form a streak and win prizes for the longest weekly streak contest. CricPlay is only available on Google Play, while BrainBaazi is available on both Google Play and the App Store.

Times Internet Limited, a subsidiary of The Times of India, is responsible behind the launch of these applications and lakhs of users have already begun actively playing these games. While real prizes are at stake, both the quiz and the fantasy sports app are currently free to play. Users are not charged any entry fee at the moment.

Players from the Indian states of Assam, Odisha, Nagaland and Telangana are restricted from playing on both apps, which suggests that a real-money element may be added to these apps soon. The fantasy sports app also has a clause of users having to be above the age of 18 to play.

“We think digital-first, and we wanted to re-imagine what mobile video entertainment could be. And, so we built BrainBaazi, a completely new format for video entertainment. It’s a live trivia show, with real participation from the people who watch it,” said Gautam Sinha, Times Internet Limited CEO, about the launch of BrainBaazi.
