N. Jagadeesan, who plays for Chepauk Super Gillies in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has issued a public apology for his actions during the tournament. The Super Gillies batter is in the limelight for all the wrong reasons due to his gesture against Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) on 23rd June in TNPL.
The incident occurred in the fourth over when Baba Aparajith was about to deliver the ball. However, the Nellai Royal King’s bowler stopped before completing his action and ran Jagadeesan out as the Chepauk Super Gillies star was already out of the crease. The TNPL star was not happy with his dismissal and was seen repeatedly flashing his middle finger while walking back to the pavilion.
After the incident, he took to Instagram and expressed an apology for his on-field actions. Calling the behaviour inexcusable, the Chepauk Super Gillies star went on to add how there can be no excuses for what he did. Jagadeesan also shared that he will look to do better going forward.

The post on his Instagram story read as, “My deepest apologies to all of you for my inexcusable behaviour at yesterday’s match. Cricket has always been what I live for – and the sportsmanship that comes along with the sport is something I deeply respect. This is why it is very hard for me to digest how I reacted.”
Jagadeesan further added, “Passion is always key in any sport – but controlling it and channelizing it the right way is more important. And that is something I failed at doing when I let my temper get the better of me. No excuses for what has been done. I will do better and be better. With Regret, Jagadeesan.”
The method of Jagadeesan’s has often been debated by cricket fans across the globe. While many consider it to be correct, the Mankad, falls under a grey area as it questions the spirit of the game. Citing the issue, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the lawmaker for the sport of cricket came up with a solution. The MCC has deemed the Mankad as a fair way to get rid of the batsman making it legal in the eyes of the game.
