The highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is all set to kick start in Australia later next month. The event is scheduled to begin on 16th October with Sri Lanka scheduled to take on Namibia in their first group stage match of the tournament. The 16-team competition is set to be played in two rounds with details on the prize pools now revealed.
Eight teams are set to fight off on the group stages of the tournament with the likes of Sri Lanka, Namibia, UAE in Netherlands, a part of Group A while Scotland, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland find themselves in Group B. All teams are set to feature in the first round of the ICC T20 World Cup and every team is set to be rewarded with a standard prize money.
Teams in the group stages are said to be rewarded with $40,000 for every victory they register in this round. 2 teams from each group will later qualify to get into the Super 12 round of the ICC event with the four teams set to join, England, South Africa Afghanistan, Australia, Pakistan Bangladesh India, and New Zealand.
The super 12 stages of the ICC T20 World Cup are scheduled to begin on 22nd October with hosts Australia set to square off against New Zealand at the at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the 13th game of the tournament. Later, yet another high-profile match awaits us as the Men in Blue scheduled to play their first match on 23rd October.
Rohit Sharma and Co will be scheduled to play archrivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Similar to the group stages of the competition, a win in the Super 12 stage will earn a $40,000 per game. Just like the previous edition of ICC T20 World Cup, the eight teams who fail to move ahead of the Super 12 stage are set to pocket a sum of $70,000 each as well.

Moving onto the final four stages, the two teams who end up losing the semi-finals are set to pocket $400,000 each with the runners-up set to collect $800,000. The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 winner has been reported to walk away with a prize money of US $1.6 million. It’s the same amount as the previous edition with the total prize money going as high as $5.6 million.
