Pakistan have played a warm-up game at the Colts Cricket Club Ground before they begin their tour.  The Test Series will see the Men in Green square off against Sri Lanka in the first match at the Galle International Stadium on 16 July.

Later, the island nation will host Pakistan in the second test at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo which is scheduled to be played on 24 July. Both the games are set to be a part of the World Test Championship cycle. The hosts are currently ranked third in the table with Pakistan just behind Sri Lanka at the fourth spot.

SLC has made quite a few changes in the team that recently took on Australia in a 2-match Test series on home turf.  The likes of Lasith Embuldeniya, alongside Praveen Jayawickrama are not called up for the Pakistan Tests. Both the left-arm spinners have been left out of the squad with Chamika Karunaratne and Lakshitha Manasinghe also not included.

Prabath Jayasuriya stole the show in the recently concluded series against Australia. He was the standout performer in the second Test picking 12 wickets on his Test debut. The two six-wicket haul helped Jayasuriya retain his position in the squad. Dunith Wellalageis, who is yet to make his debut has also been included in the team for the upcoming Test matches against Pakistan.

Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan took on Australia in their latest Test outings, with the baggy greens touring the sub-continent this year. The Men in Green played 3 tests against Australia, with first two matches ending in a draw with the tourists winning the last Test to pocket the series. Sri Lanka on the other hand tied their series down to 1-1 by with both teams walking away with a win.
