The Shikhar Dhawan led Indian cricket team managed to seal the three-match ODI series against West Indies after a convincing win in the final ODI. The Men in Blue recorded a whitewash against the Caribbean outfit by winning the rain-affected match with a margin of 119 runs as per the DLS method.
India relied on Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan to get the visitors to a good start. The Men in Blue skipper helped himself to 58 runs before being undone by Hayden Walsh. Gill, who has been exceptional throughout the series ended up with an unbeaten run-a-ball 98. The young opener missed out on his maiden ODI hundred as the weather played spoilsport, ending India’s innings early in the 36th over.
West Indies failed to get off to a good start during their run-chase which saw them aim to score 257 runs in 35 overs. Mohammed Siraj got rid of Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks in his very first over to set the tone for the Men in Blue India.

Indian team captain Shikhar Dhawan spoke with the media after the massive win in the 3rd ODI against West Indies. He went on to praise the maturity of the young cricketers in the team while also speaking about his own form.
The 36-year-old was quoted saying, “I feel the boys are young, but they played maturely. The way they handled themselves on the field, really proud of them. Very good signs for us. I am quite pleased with my form, I have been playing this format since a long time. I was happy with the way I played that knock, in the first ODI. And even today, happy with my performance. “
The stand-in skipper went on to praise Gill’s knock while also commenting on the bowling performances of the visitors. Shikhar Dhawan said, “The way he (Gill) scored those 98 runs, it was amazing to watch. The way all the boys responded, it was pretty amazing. We feel lucky to come here, we are thankful to the crowd. They make us more popular. I am proud of our bowling unit, they gave their hundred percent. The way Siraj took those two wickets, and the way Shardul and others bowled.”
