Archrivals India and Pakistan will lock horns against each other and renew their rivalry after nearly a year when they square off in Asia Cup 2022. Both the teams will look to one up their fellow counter parts when they take the field at the Dubai International Stadium on 28th August.
Babar Azam’s side will head into the game with oozing with confidence as they registered a massive 10-wicket victory over the Men in Blue at the ICC T20 World Cup last year. Rohit Sharma’s side will be eager to take their revenge for the humiliating defeat they tasted last October at the same venue. The Men in Green on the other end will focus on making it 2 wins in a row.
Speaking on SPORTS18’s daily sports news show ‘SPORTS OVER THE TOP’, Scott Styris shared his thoughts on the India-Pakistan encounter. The former New Zealand all-rounder did a SWOT analysis on both teams and spoke on the strengths and weaknesses.
He feels Pakistan is too over-dependent on the batting duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Scott Styris also went on to reveal how India have been playing very well after losing their first 2 group fixtures at the ICC T20 World Cup last year.
The 47-year-old said, “They rely so heavily on this man here, Mohammad Rizwan, along with Babar Azam, because if they get them off to a start, there’s a lot of power hitting to come. So, therefore, they will look to provide the base and then Fakhar Zaman of this world with all that power and that left-handed sort of variety as well.”

“I think coming in and maybe looking to attack the spinners, in particular, I think could work in Pakistan’s favour. Well, as we know, India has a very strong T20 league as well. I think it’s the ability to come together and play the style and brand of cricket that best suits your players,” Scott Styris added.
He further stated, “ I thought that was the big trick that India missed at the last T20 World Cup, as it took them about two games. The two losses they had before they just started to go after the opposition, impose themselves with the talent and skill that they’ve got. I want to see India do that in this Asia Cup.”
