Will Sanju Samson’s Recall For WI Series Open Doors For ICC ODI World Cup 2023?

Will Sanju Samson’s Recall For WI Series Open Doors For ICC ODI World Cup 2023? Sanju Samson has been presented with a unique chance ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. The wicketkeeper for the Rajasthan Royals is ready to return during India’s tour of the West Indies. Despite missing the Sri Lanka and New Zealand series, the RR captain has been selected for the ODI squad against the West Indies.

Despite being in and out of the starting lineup, Samson is ready to take advantage of the ample opportunities presented by the absence of some of the team’s veteran players. If he can seize this chance against WI, there is a strong possibility that he will be selected for the Indian squad in the upcoming World Cup in 2023.

Sanju Samson’s IPL 2023 Performance

Before suffering a hamstring injury, Samson played his last T20I match against Sri Lanka. However, his performance in the IPL was disappointing, as he scored only 360 runs in 13 innings.

Nonetheless, the wicketkeeper batter is eager to play and make the most of his opportunities, particularly against the West Indies. With Rishabh Pant not available until 2023, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are expected to have more chances. In fact, Samson may even be considered for the ODI team in addition to T20Is.

Can The Batsman Make It To The World Cup?

Due to injuries to KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, there is a strong possibility that Sanju Samson may be selected as a wicketkeeper-batsman for the upcoming 50-over format against WI. With many players currently sidelined, Samson is likely to be given more opportunities to prove himself in both ODI and T20 teams. This tour to WI presents the ideal opportunity for the BCCI to try out their backup options ahead of the highly anticipated World Cup in 2023.
