Sanju Samson To Have Leadership Role in India’s ODI Squad?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  is expected to announce India’s ODI squad for against South Africa matches today. Sanju Samson is reported to be named as the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. Shikhar Dhawan will take charge of the team with the wicket-keeper batter likely to be his deputy. Most senior players are also expected to miss the One Day games ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

The Men in Blue hosts the Proteas for a white ball tour that sees both the teams square off in a three T20I matches which will be followed by a three-match ODI series during their tour to India which ends on 11th October. India and South Africa play the first T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

The second game is scheduled at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati with the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore set to play host for the final T20I on 4th October. Later, the Proteas will later play the Men in Blue in the first ODI at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on 6th October.  The 2nd ODI will be played at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on 9th October with the tour ending on 11th October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sanju Samson to be India’s VC against SA? 

Sanju Samson has been an impressive performer in the last few months. After impressive outings for the  national team, the 27 year old captained India A to a massive 3-0 clean sweep against New Zealand A on home soil. Apart from him, Rahul Tripathi and Rajat Patidar are expected to make their debut against South Africa. Umran Malik also has a shot at getting back in the Indian national team jersey once again with VVS Laxman expected to coach the teams as Rahul Dravid will leave for the T20 World Cup.
