Record Alert: Ruturaj Gaikwad Has The Most Centuries in Vijay Hazare

Record Alert: Ruturaj Gaikwad Has The Most Centuries in Vijay Hazare: Ruturaj Gaikwad is the centre of attraction today, as he smashed another century against Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 Finals. Gaikwad is super consistent and scored a double hundred in the quarter-final, a hundred in the semi-final, and a hundred in the finals.

Gaikwad Breaks N Jagadeesan Record of most Century

Thanks to his exceptional batting against Saurashtra, Gaikwad has dethroned Narayan Jagadeesan by breaking his record of most centuries in Vijay Hazare. Before Gaikwad, N Jagadeesan had the record for the most centuries in a Vijay Hazare Trophy. With four centuries each, Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are now in third place.

Despite an impressive run in the Indian Premier League, the 25-year-old cut a frustrated figure due to limited opportunities for the national team (IPL). After registering a mind-boggling double century in the quarter-final, which included a record-breaking seven sixes of an over, he fired a shot of intent.

He was eventually dismissed for 108 runs off 131 deliveries, finishing as the competition’s second-highest run scorer this year. His dazzling bat run makes him a strong contender for a return to the Indian team.

Ruturaj now has four tonnes in his last five appearances in the competition, making him the only player to have four centuries in one tournament on two separate occasions. This was also his 12th century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the most in the tournament’s history.
