Rishabh Pant has been one of the best batters for India in their ongoing Test match against England. The wicket-keeper has played an aggressive brand of cricket in Birmingham. He registered amazing knocks of 146 and 57 in the ongoing fifth Test match.
The 24-year-old’s recent innings against the Three Lions sees Pant move up the list of most runs scored by an Indian against England in Test cricket. The left-handed batsman has moved ahead of the likes of VVS Laxman and Gautam Gambhir following his latest outing at Edgbaston. He scored a brilliant century in the first innings and continued to be in his purple patch for the 2nd innings as well.

Pant played an aggressive first innings scoring 146 runs off just 11 balls. He formed a solid partnership with Ravindra Jadeja after India found themselves to be in a sport of bother. Riding on the wicket keepers’ heroic innings, the Men in Blue managed to put together 416 on the board.
The 24-year-old once again walked in when the team was struggling and managed to stitch up a 78 run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara. He hit 8 fours, amassing 57 runs off 86 balls before being dismissed by Jack Leach off a miscued reverse sweep.
During his second innings, Pant leapfrogged the likes of Gambhir and Laxman. He now finds himself ranked above the duo on the list of highest Indian run-getters against England in Test cricket. Pant has scored 781 runs in 12 Tests against England.
He has scored three centuries and 4 half-centuries against the Three Lions, averaging 39.05 while amassing 93 fours and 21 sixes. Gambhir has scored 768 runs against England in 12 Tests. Without anyone’s surprise Sachin Tendulkar tops this list having scored 2,535 runs in 35 Tests against England. The legendary Indian batter has a top score of 193 while scoring 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries.
Sunil Gavaskar finds himself on the second spot with 2,483 runs in 38 Tests against his name. Pant’s fellow teammate, Virat Kohli is the third Indian batter on the list. The 33-year-old has recorded 1,991 runs in 28 Tests against England scoring 5 centuries and 9 half-centuries so far.
