From the outset of the second leg, the atmosphere was electric, with fans from both sides creating an intense backdrop for what would become an unforgettable match. Real Sociedad, needing to overturn the aggregate deficit, came out firing. Their early pressure paid off in the 16th minute when Ander Barrenetxea struck first, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Barrenetxea’s goal was a product of swift team play, as he capitalised on Madrid’s poor defence and slotted the ball through Andriy Lunin’s legs. With this goal, Real Sociedad not only levelled the aggregate score but also ignited hope for a potential upset.
However, Real Madrid responded very quickly, and Endrick ended up scoring an equaliser in the 30th minute. Vinicius Junior put a long ball in behind Sociedad’s defence, and Endrick managed to latch onto this and chip the ball over Alex Remiro’s head to make the score 1-1. The first half ended with a score of 1-1, and it was quite a while before the next goal was scored. Real Sociedad managed to get the next goal in the 72nd minute thanks to an own goal by Real Madrid defender David Alaba. This made the score 2-1, which meant Sociedad were now level on aggregate. This was followed by Real Sociedad scoring yet another goal.
