Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has made a strong statement ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan. The sub continental rivals are all set to lock horns in the 6-nation tournament on August 28.
The Men in Green will head into the game with a lot of confidence as Babar Azam’s team recorded a 10-wicket triumph against India at the T20 World Cup last year. However, there have been a lot of changes in the form for both teams since then. They will square off after a year with the team not playing each other in any bilateral series due to citing the political issues between them.
India and Pakistan only play each other at ICC events like the World Cups or Champions Trophy) apart from continental competitions like the Asia Cup. Speaking about the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan, Rashid Latif claimed that the Men in Green boosts an edge over Rohit Sharma’s men ahead of the clash.
The former Pakistan captain feels that the Asia Cup match in Dubai will see the Men in Green emerge victorious again. Speaking on his official YouTube channel, “Caught Behind,” Rashid Latif gave an in-depth analysis on Indian batters. He claimed how the inconsistent captaincy situation in India as well as key players missing matches with cost the Men in Blue the match against Pakistan.
The former Pakistan wicketkeeper said, “Win or lose, it does not matter. However, I believe Pakistan’s plan is much more promising. Whether it is a T20I, ODI, or Test, the Pakistani team has not undergone many changes. In the past year, India has had about 7 captains, which is rather out of place given the current circumstances.”
Rashid Latif added, “Rohit and Rahul were injured, Kohli was not there. Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan (ODI), and Hardik Pandya all came as captains. Making their best team would provide some challenges for them. India undoubtedly has the finest players, but they can not even field their top 16 players, and I believe they would have to play even their best XI, ” further added.
The upcoming match between India and Pakistan is set to be played in the T20 format. The Asia Cup is set to be played in the shortest format of the game with the Asian cricket council taking the decision in order to help the teams prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
