Former Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has been named in the upcoming BBL draft for overseas picks. Apart from the right-arm leg spinner, a heavy chuck of Afghan stars have been named in the draft with a dozen of West Indies players in the mix too.

Rashid Khan has been a seasoned campaigner in the BBL with the 23-year-old featuring in 5 seasons Australia’s domestic T20 competition. He has played for the Adelaide Strikers in the last five seasons, being a household name in the team.
The 23-year-old spinner did not play the whole BBL last year as he had to leave early because of national team commitments. However, he did have a memorable outing in the BBL 11 as he recorded his career-best figures of 6/17 against the Brisbane Heat.
Afghanistan star Qais Ahmad has also been one of the recent nominees named in the draft. New Zealand’s Colin Munro has also signed up to be a part of the overs draft in the 12th edition. Overseas players must state their availability during the tournament when they sign up for the draft.

So far, there has been no update on how many matches Rashid Khan will be available for with Afghanistan scheduled to play some international matches in January. Players who sign up for the draft will have to choose a category to be placed in.
They can nominate themselves to fall in either of the gold, silver or bronze categories. Cricket Australia has also added a Platinum level category this year around which will include some of the biggest names in world cricket. The draft is expected to take place in mid-August.
Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard joins Khan and has been confirmed as one of the names who signed up for the draft. He will join fellow countrymen and the all-time highest T20 wicket-taker in Dwayne Bravo in BBL 12.
The WI duo are set to feature in Australia’s domestic competition after retiring from international cricket. Andre Russell, who made five appearances for Stars last season, is understood not to be among the latest nominees.
