Rajat Patidar Said THIS Before India vs South Africa 1st ODI

Rajat Patidar earned his maiden for Team India following his exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and the domestic circuit. He is set to make his debut under Shikhar Dhawan as the opener is set to captain the Men in Blue in the ODI series against South Africa. Patidar has gone on to explain how he was nervous on talking with the Indian team captain before the kickstart of the One Day series.

The 29-year-old went on to reveal how Shikhar Dhawan came to talk with him while appreciating his performances before the match.  Speaking to the media ahead of the first ODI in Lucknow, Rajat Patidar said, “This is the first time I’m meeting Shikhar Dhawan and will be playing under his leadership. I hesitated to speak to him but he only came to me and appreciated my performance.”

The right-handed batter also spoke about his first meeting with Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers at Royal Challengers Bangalore. He revealed how a talk with the duo helped his confidence levels as a player. “Virat Kohli and ABD are the stalwarts of international cricket. I had no idea what to talk about with these guys. But they only came first and had a word with me… a great moment for me. That spiked my confidence levels. I got to learn a lot from them,” Rajat Patidar added.

The MP star was also a crucial cog for Madhya Pradesh  with his performances playing an instrumental role in the teams Ranji trophy win. He goes on to claim how he feels about boasting the ability to feature in all three formats of the game.

“The IPL knock has given me a lot of confidence. I think there is a big difference between white-ball and red-ball cricket. But I think I have the ability to play all three formats. So, I just try to focus on the process of red and white-ball formats differently. I don’t have any personal goals. I just want to stay in the present and play according to the situation. I do only what I can control,” Rajat Patidar said.

The Shikhar Dhawan led Men in Blue will take on the Proteas in first ODI at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The 2nd ODI will be played at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on 9th October with the final clash of the tour scheduled to be played on 11th October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
