Pro Kabaddi League Recap, A Quick Overview Of Pro Kabaddi League, Season One To Seven: The eighth season of the Pro Kabaddi League is scheduled to begin on 22nd December 2021. Twelve teams will participate in Pro Kabaddi League 2021, where the top two teams will meet each other in the finals on 20th January 2022. The earlier editions of the tournament were a huge success and are becoming more prominent and more robust with each passing season.

When it comes to the most famous leagues in India, Pro Kabaddi League is one of them. The world witnessed the popularity of the grand league in its first edition, where the league broke every record in terms of popularity. Pro Kabaddi League in India has got great significance as this is the only league that allows more than ten teams to participate.  In the eighth season of PKL, fans would not be able to watch their players live as the tournament will be held behind closed doors. Because of the COVID-19 restriction, management is avoiding hosting the tournament in a multi-city venue.

Pro Kabaddi League Recap Season One

The first season of the Pro Kabaddi League was played from 26th July to 31st August. The foremost season of PKL is considered one of the best seasons to date. The tournament’s first edition allowed spectators to witness something new rather than Cricket and Football.

Eight teams participated in the mega event, where a total count of 60 games was played. Jaipur Pink Panthers, U Mumba, Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls were the top four teams to advance into the playoff stage. The first finale of the season was played between Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba, where the Pink Panthers thrashed Mumbai to win the first season of the Pro Kabaddi League In India.

After organizing the first successful season of the Pro Kabaddi League in India, the organizers were back in July 2015 with a new tournament edition.

The tournament format was the same as the previous one; in this season U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, Patna Pirates and Telugu Titans qualified in the playoff, where U Mumba and Bengaluru Bulls faced each other in the finals. The heroic performance of Shabbir Bapu’s helped U Mumba to win their first title of the season by 36-30.

Pro Kabaddi League Recap Season Three

The third season of the Pro Kabaddi League was announced on 30th January 2016. After two consecutive defeats in the semi-finals, the Patna Pirates somehow managed to reach the finals of the Pro Kabaddi League, where the squad trumped U Mumba by 31-28.

Pro Kabaddi League Recap Season Four

The fourth season of Pro Kabaddi League was a sort of Roller Coaster ride for the audience. The organizing committee decided to host two seasons the same year; all the teams and fans welcomed the decision. As I mentioned earlier, Pro Kabaddi League 2016 was a sort of Roller Coaster ride, where U Mumbai (three times finalist) was knocked out in the playoffs for the first time.

Patna Pirates and Jaipur Pink Panthers participated in the finals of the mega event, where Patna Pirates thrashed the Panthers to win the second PKL trophy.

Pro Kabaddi League Recap Season Five

For the first time in India, the world witnessed 12 teams participating in a league event. Four new teams were introduced in the mega event, where the tournament’s format was also modified. The four teams that participated in the league were UP Yoddha, Tamil Thalaivas, Haryana Steelers and Gujrat Fortunegiants.

The 12 teams were divided into two groups of six each. Each team played 22 games in the season, where Patna Pirates and Gujrat Fortunegiants qualified for the finals. Thrashing Fortunegiants by 55-38, Patna Pirate once again lifted the beautiful trophy of Pro Kabaddi League.

Finally, after three seasons, the nation witnessed a new winner. The sixth season of the Pro Kabaddi League was a pleasure to watch for every Kabaddi fan.

After thrashing almost every team in the contest, Bengaluru Bulls and Gujarat Fortunegiants qualified for the finals. The Bulls pounded the Fortunrgaints by 38-33 and won the sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.

In the seventh season of the tournament, Dabang Delhi qualified for the first time in the finals. The squad faced Bengaluru Bulls in the final clash, where the Bulls thrashed Dabang Delhi and successfully defended the title in a nail-biting finish by 39-34.

Pro Kabaddi League came as an opportunity for young talent to pursue Kabaddi careers. In the auctions held in August 2021, Mumbai retained 59 players. More than 450 players participated in the mega auction, where only 190 players were sold for ₹48.22 crores. Pardeep Narwal, bought by UP Yoddha, was the most expensive player. UP Yoddha bought him for ₹1.65. Telugu Titans retained Siddharth Desai for ₹1.30 crore.
