PokerStars strikes sponsorship deal with UFC

The premier brand of martial arts around the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the heavyweight of the worldwide poker industry, PokerStars, which is in turn owned by The Stars Group (TSG)has just brokered a new marketing sponsorship deal with each other on 21st December 2018.

The move sees PokerStars as UFC’s first-ever “Official Poker Partner,” which means that the PokerStars’ red spade and white star insignia will be adorned on the UFC fighting cage for everyone to view. The first appearance of PokerStars’ new deal will be in the UFC® 232: JONES vs. GUSTAFSSON 2 fight on 29th December. PokerStars advertisements will be integrated on UFC telecasts and through other digital and social media channels.

Paul Asencio, UFC Senior Vice-President of Global Partnerships, was elated about the deal and said, “We’re excited that PokerStars has joined our roster of global partners and has helped us create a new sponsorship category for our final event of 2018. This agreement lays the foundation to work together with PokerStars in the future to grow our respective customer bases in key markets.

Another one of the decision makers, Christopher Coyne, Chief Marketing Officer of Stars Interactive, a TSG division, also added saying, “UFC and PokerStars have a lot in common. We want to thrill and entertain, both in our products and customer experience. UFC is the world’s leading MMA promoter with millions of fans and followers around the globe, while PokerStars is the heavyweight of online poker. It’s a classic combination.”

PokerStars is a company that has deep and long roots worldwide. They, along with being the most popular online poker site, is also a veteran of the industry, having been founded in 2001. More than 182 billion hands have been dealt on PokerStars, more than any other site.

UFC is the largest Pay-Per-View event provider in the world, boasting 284 million fans across the planet. It has produced over 450 events in 24 countries since its founding in 1993. 2018 will see UFC celebrate its 25th Anniversary.
