The Indian Premier League (IPL) has established itself as one of the best franchised-based cricket tournaments across the globe. Since its inception in 2008, IPL has gone on to become the most highly anticipated cricket competition in the world.
“Catches win matches’ is a common saying in cricket which makes fielding a crucial part of the game. IPL has seen many players stun the world with their fielding skills in the tournament. From taking a regulation catch to a blinder, we have seen a lot of fantastic catches being taken in IPL.
Be it on the slips or on the boundary line, we have seen the best fielders create a lot of memories with their catching. Since the previous editions of IPL, we have seen many players create records. Let’s have a look at players who have completed 100 catches in the IPL.
1. Suresh Raina
Chennai Super Kings stalwart, Suresh Raina boosts the record for taking the most catches in Indian Premier League (IPL). The middle order batter is also considered to be among the greatest fielders in the history of Indian cricket. With 109 catches against in name, Raina is the first-ever cricketer to claim 100 catches in the tournament.
He is also the only Indian player to 100 catches in the tournament, a feat he achieved during IPL 2019. Raina featured for two IPL teams during his stint in the competition. He played most of his matches for Chennai Super Kings and also played for Gujarat Lions team when CSK were banned for a two year period. Taking 109 catches in 205 matches, Raina called curtains on IPL career with a catch per innings ratio of 0.534.

2 .Kieron Pollard
Legendary Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard, follows Suresh Raina to be the second player behind the CSK star to complete 100+ catches in the Indian Premier League. The West Indies all-rounder has taken some incredible catches near the boundary while playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. His athleticism and ability to time a jump makes him one of the best outfield catchers in the cricket.
Citing Pollard’s gigantic height, the WI star manages to pluck high up catches for fun, espcially when he is on the ropes. Before pulling down the curtains on his IPL career back in 2022, Pollard had taken 103 catches in the 189 innings, recording a ratio of 0.545 catch per match.
3. Rohit Sharma
Closing in on Pollard is his former teammate and skipper Rohit Sharma. Currently the captain of Mumbai Indians, Sharma is seen fielding inside the circle, being closer to bowlers while also adjusting the field as per the match situation.
Despite fielding at positions where catches are less likley to come by, Rohit Sharma has managed to take 97 catches in the 227 games so far. He is very close to joining the elusive club of being the only 3rd player in this cash-rich league to complete over 100+ catches. It would add another feather to his hat with the opener also holding the record for winning the most IPL titles as a captain.
Indian Internationals Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan also make it to the top-5 list with the duo sitting in the high 90’s. IPL 2023 could see Kohli and Dhawan also break into the elusive club soon.
