Former India wicket keeper Parthiv Patel has gone onto heap praise on Indian speedster Arshdeep Singh for his heroics in the previous outing. The Men in Blue suffered a narrow 5-wicket loss to West Indies in the final over of the second T20I at St. Kitts. However, the young left arm pacer had a brilliant outing with the ball, especially in the death overs which helped India fight till the very end.
After opening the bowling alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar, team India’s all format captain Rohit Sharma called up Arshdeep Singh in the 17th over of the second innings. The 22-year-old walked into bowl after conceding 16 runs in the first 2 overs. It was a difficult situation to be in with West Indies needing 27 runs needed off the final three overs.
However, the left-arm seamer rose up to the occasion and bowled tight lengths, conceding just four runs in his penultimate over. The Punjab based bowler continued to strangle the WI batters in the 19th over as well conceding just 6 runs while taking the crucial wicket of Rovman Powell.
Arshdeep Singh ended up with figures of 1-26 from his four overs while handing India 10 runs to defend off the final over. Citing the 22-year-old pacer’s antics, Parthiv Patel went on to claim how the Punjab Kings bowled with a lot of confidence.
The former Indian wicket keeper stated on Cricbuzz saying, “You could sense the confidence in him because he has been bowling those difficult overs for Punjab Kings, which is what he has been doing. When Rohit entered the room, he did not engage Arshdeep in conversation, which indicated that he knew what he was going to do. That demonstrates his maturity and how much he has picked up while bowling for Punjab.”

Parthiv Patel also went on to praise the left arm pacers’ versatility as a death bowler while also sharing how the peft arm bowler used the angle really well. He said, “Arshdeep utilized the angle effectively; the ball was not reversing in the traditional sense, but he used it incredibly well, especially with Powell’s wicket where it appeared to swing in.”
Arshdeep Singh has made a solid start to his international career claiming five wickets so far while maintaining an economy of under six. He would be eager to continue with such strong performances in the shortest format of the game and hope to be a part of the Indian contingent that will fly to Australia for the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup.
