On this day, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh achieved an extraordinary record which remains broken. The Punjab-born cricketer sealed the deal for Team India on various occasions over the years. The incident took place during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup when India took on England at the Kingsmead cricket ground in Durban. Singh was involved in a heated altercation with England’s Andrew Flintoff just minutes after he came to bat. The former English skipper exchanged a few words with the Indian all-rounder at the end of 18th over which left him furious.
When Broad came in to ball the 19th over, Yuvraj got on strike against Broad and went on to humiliate the English bowler by smashing six 6s in a row. While Broad faced the heat for his bowling, the slaughter was meant to be a curt response for the shade that Flintoff threw at Singh.
Instead of losing his cool and allowing Flintoff to get into this head, Yuvraj Singh went on to tank the ball all across the pitch and bring up his 50 off just 12 balls. The last six has gone on to become one of the most cherished memories of Indian cricket fans as well as the ICC T20 World Cup history.
