He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on 27th October 2016, where he won the player of the match award. This article talks about Narayan Jagadeesan’s net worth and what his salary is at Chepauk Super Gillies.
At 28, Narayan Jagadeesan is yet to have a career-defining breakthrough, but his potential is undeniable. His stints with big Indian Premier League franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, coupled with his impressive performance in the 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League campaign, have set the stage for the IPL 2025 mega auction. This event could prove to be a turning point in Jagadeesan’s career.
The wicket-keeper batsman started his professional career in 2016. He started playing for the Tamil Nadu cricket team, a domestic team run by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to represent the state of Tamil Nadu. He was also picked to play for Dindigul Dragons in the first edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2016). He played eight games for them that season, scoring a total of 329 runs.

Continuing with Dindigul Dragons in the 2017 season, Jagadeesan’s performance was not as impactful as the previous season. Despite this, his team continued to trust him, and he regained his form in the 2018 Tamil Nadu Premier League, finishing the season with 396 runs in nine games. This was followed by an even better season in 2019, where he scored 448 runs in 10 games, ending as the top scorer in the tournament.
Jagadeesan’s standout performances brought him into the spotlight and attracted attention from Indian Premier League clubs. His professional contracts with these clubs, which are his main source of income, have been instrumental in accumulating his net worth of approximately ₹4 Crore. His biggest breakthrough was when he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018 for ₹20 Lakh, a significant milestone in his career.

He remained at Chennai Super Kings from 2018 to 2022, making his debut for the franchise in IPL 2020. His debut came against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 10th October 2020. He impressed enough with the team that CSK re-signed him in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Narayan Jagadeesan spent one more season with Chennai Super Kings before entering the IPL 2023 auction.
This time out, the Chennai Super Kings faced competition from the Kolkata Knight Riders. It looked like KKR had their sight set on Taking Jagadeesan away from CSK, and in the end, Chennai Super Kings had to let him go after Kolkata Knight Riders bid ₹90 Lakh to try and get Narayan Jagadeesan to Eden Gardens. This partnership, however, did not end up working out, and Jagadeesan was released after just one year. While he did not participate in IPL 2024, all his previous contracts would have certainly been crucial in helping him accumulate a net worth of approximately ₹4 Crore.

Narayan Jagadeesan currently represents Tamil Nadu Premier League side Chepauk Super Gillies. He has been with them since Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021. He was originally picked in the TNPL 2020 draft, but the tournament that year was cancelled due to Covid-19. Jagadeesan was retained for TNPL 2021 and made his debut that season. He has played a total of 24 games for them and scored 663 runs at an average of 27.6 and a strike rate of 121.4.
The wicket-keeper batsman was retained by Chepauk Super Gillies and named as captain ahead of the TNPL 2023 auctions. Jagadeesan fell in category B, which means he earns a salary of ₹6 Lakh per season while representing Chepauk Super Gillies. While this is not as much as he earned for Chennai Super Kings or Kolkata Knight Riders, this gives him a chance to develop his game and prove his worth to the IPL selectors so that he can participate in the tournament again. If he manages to bag himself a contract ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, it will surely help him boost his net worth even further.
