Najam Sethi Withdraws His Candidature For PCB’s Next Chairman: On Tuesday, Najam Sethi made waves in the world of Pakistan cricket by announcing his resignation from his position as head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He also withdrew from the running to become the next chairman of the board. Sethi had been serving as the head of the interim management committee of PCB since December of last year, but his tenure was set to end on 21st June.
He was expected to be appointed as the new chairman of the PCB. However, there have been recent reports that Zaka Ashraf, a former PCB chairman, could be making a return. While there has been no official confirmation of this, Sethi has announced that he will not be continuing in his role.

At 1:29 AM he tweeted, “Salaam everyone! I don’t want to be a bone of contention between Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif. Such instability and uncertainty is not good for PCB. Under the circumstances I am not a candidate for Chairmanship of PCB. Good luck to all stakeholders.”

He replaced Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the PCB in December 2022. He was tasked with reinstating the sport’s domestic structure under the 2014 constitution, which had been scrapped in 2019. Sethi was given 120 days to complete this task.
The chairman of the PCB, Sethi, has taken several significant decisions in recent months. These included Mickey Arthur’s hiring as director of cricket and Grant Bradburn as head coach. Last week, Sethi appointed former South African ace Morne Morkel as the national team’s bowling coach on a six-month contract.
His proposal for the Asia Cup to be held in a hybrid model was approved by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Under this model, India will play all of its matches in Sri Lanka, while the remaining four matches will be played in Pakistan. This was a compromise solution, as India had refused to travel to Pakistan due to strained political relations between the two countries. The Asia Cup will be held from 31st August to 17th September 2023.
