The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the toughest franchise league tournaments. The Board of Control Cricket in India (BCCI) manages the league. The inaugural edition of IPL took place in 2008. Since the launch of the IPL, Virat Kohli has held the record for most runs in the league. Chris Gayle on the other hand, holds many individual records to his credit, like most sixes by an individual player and most number of centuries by a player. 

Till date, we have witnessed 14 seasons of this mega league, where we saw Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) turning out to be the most successful teams. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Kolkata Knight Riders are considered as the dark horses of the IPL. Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla are the owners of this franchise. This team has come a long way and was led by great veterans such as Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir. KKR managed to win the IPL trophy twice, i.e., in 2012 and 2014. The squad had played 207 matches in the IPL and recorded 1111 sixes in the competitions. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. The franchise is led by the veteran Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Under his captaincy, CSK managed to win four IPL trophies, i.e., 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. When it comes to most sixes, CSK has recorded 1174 sixes. Fourth highest by any franchise. 

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Punjab Kings (PBKS) is jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul. Punjab Kings has smashed 1187 sixes in their 206 games in the league. The squad has never won an IPL title. The franchise is considered to be one of the biggest chokers in the league. PBKS managed to qualify into the playoffs only once, where the squad faced KKR into the finals in 2014 and ended up losing the game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bangalore has played three finals in the IPL history but failed to bag any title (in 2009, 2011, and 2016). RCB has recorded 1282 sixes in 217 innings in the IPL. They are second highest on this list.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Owned by Mukesh Ambani, Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful sides in the tournament. The squad tops the list of winning the maximum titles in the IPL history (5), and smashing the most number of sixes in the IPL history i.e., 1318 sixes in 217 matches.
