Lara scored a total of 53 centuries in his international career, with 34 of them coming in Test cricket, while 19 of these centuries came in the ODI format. Brian Lara barely played any T20I cricket and did not score a single of his centuries in this format of the game.

7. Mahela Jayawardene – 54 Centuries

Mahela Jayawardene was an incredible cricketer who represented the Sri Lankan cricket team from 1997 to 2015. The talented cricketer played a total of 652 matches for Sri Lanka and scored 25,957 runs while representing his country on the international stage at an average of 39.15. During his career, Mahela Jayawardene scored 54 centuries, 34 of them coming in Test cricket, 19 of them coming in One-Day Internationals, and one century coming in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I).

7. Joe Root – 54 Centuries

Joe Root is one of the finest English batsmen to have ever played the game. He began his international career in 2012 and has represented England for more than a decade with exceptional consistency. Joe Root has played 365 matches for England across formats and has scored 21,025 runs with an impressive average of 49.35. The former England captain has scored a total of 54 international centuries. Out of these, 36 have come in Test cricket and 18 in One Day Internationals (ODIs), while he has not scored a century in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

He made 28 hundreds in Test matches and 27 in the ODI format but did not manage to score even one century in the Twenty20 International (T20I) format of the game.

5. Jacques Kallis – 62 Centuries

Jacques Kallis is regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket. The South African legend played international cricket from 1995 to 2014 and featured in 519 matches. He scored a mammoth total of 25,534 runs for his country with a batting average of 49.10. During his glittering career, Kallis scored 62 centuries. 45 of these centuries came in Test cricket, while 17 were scored in ODIs, making Kallis another player on this list without a single T20I century in the entirety of their career.

4. Kumar Sangakara -63 Centuries

Kumar Sangakkara was a legendary Sri Lankan cricketer who played international cricket from 2000 to 2015. The left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper represented Sri Lanka in 594 matches and scored an extraordinary total of 28,016 runs. Sangakkara finished his career with an excellent average of 46.77. During his time with the Sri Lankan cricket team, the talented star managed to score a total of 63 international hundreds, which included 38 hundreds in the Test format and 25 hundreds in One Day Internationals. Just like many players of his era, he did not score a T20I century.

Ponting amassed 27,483 international runs and maintained an average of 45.95 over his long career. He scored a total of 71 centuries, out of which 41 came in the Test format while 30 came in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), making him the last player on this list without a Twenty20 International (T20I) century.

2. Virat Kohli – 82 Centuries

Virat Kohli is considered one of the greatest modern-day cricketers of all time. The Indian batting superstar made his international debut in 2008 and continues to represent India in ODIs. He recently announced his retirement from the Test format and retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli has played a total of 550 matches for the Indian cricket team and has scored 27,599 runs at an average of 52.27, making him the only player on this list with an average of above 50. Kohli has scored a total of 82 international centuries, 30 of which came in the Test format, one in the T20I format, and a whopping 51 centuries in ODIs.

Sachin Tendulkar is widely regarded as the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. The Indian maestro played international cricket from 1989 to 2013 and represented India in a record 664 matches. Tendulkar scored a staggering 34,357 runs for India with an average of 48.52. He remains the only cricketer in history to score 100 international hundreds, an absolutely phenomenal feat. Sachin Tendulkar scored a total of 51 Test hundreds and 49 One Day International hundreds to complete the feat of having scored 100 international centuries.
