Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was founded in 2022 and has participated in only four auctions. This is why there is such a big difference between the money they have spent and what most of the other teams have. LSG has spent a total of ₹126.5 Crore in the auction till now, with their top three spends being KL Rahul (₹17 Crore), Nicholas Pooran (₹16 Crore), and Avesh Khan (₹10 Crore).

Gujarat Titans (GT) is the second team, which was founded as recently as 2022. Like Lucknow Super Giants, they were a part of the IPL expansion, which saw the number of teams increase from eight to 10. This is why they spend less money than some other IPL teams. Gujarat Titans have spent a total of ₹139.55 Crore in the auctions since 2022, with their top picks being Hardik Pandya (₹15 Crore), Rashid Khan (₹15 Crore), and Lockie Ferguson (₹10 Crore).

Rajasthan Royals were one of the two teams banned from participating in the Indian Premier League for a period of two years (2016 and 2017). While they have participated in all the other eight years, not being able to participate in two auctions is why they are one of the teams with the lowest spending in the last ten years. Their top buys in the last ten years have been Chris Morris (₹16.25 Crore), Sanju Samson (₹14 Crore), and Ben Stokes (₹12.5 Crore).

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the second team, and like Rajasthan Royals, they were banned from participating in the Indian Premier League in 2016 and 2017. Despite having participated in two lesser auctions when compared to Mumbai Indians, they have spent nearly as much as them. CSK have spent a total of ₹257.65 Crores in the last 10 years, with their top picks being Ravindra Jadeja (₹16 Crore), Ben Stokes (16.25 Crore), and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (₹15 Crore).

Mumbai Indians (MI) have spent the least amount of money when compared to anyone on this list who has attended all 10 auctions. While they are known for spending, they have actually spent just ₹272.7 Crore in the last 10 years, which puts them in 6th place, above only those teams who have attended a lesser number of auctions. Their top buys in the last 10 years have been Cameron Green (₹17.5 Crore), Rohit Sharma (₹16 Crore), and Ishan Kishan (₹15.25 Crore).

They won the 2024 Indian Premier League title, beating SRH in the final and denying them their second title. KKR’s top purchases in the last 10 years have been Mitchell Starc (₹24.75 Crore), Pat Cummins (₹15.5 Crore), and Shreyas Iyer (₹12.25 Crore).

They are the first team to cross the ₹300 Crore mark in money spent in auctions, having spent a total of ₹312.4 Crore. Despite spending so lavishly and having many super teams through the years, the team has yet to win a single IPL title. RCB’s top purchases in the last 10 years include Virat Kohli (₹17 Crore), Yuvraj Singh (₹16 Crore), and Kyle Jamieson (₹15 Crore)

Delhi Capitals (DC) is another team that is near the top of the spending list but is nowhere near the winners list. The team was originally known as Delhi Daredevils and was rebranded as Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2019 season. The franchise has spent ₹325.85 Crore in the last 10 years but is yet to win a single IPL title. Their three most expensive picks in the last 10 years have been Rishabh Pant (₹16 Crore), Shardul Thakur (₹10.75 Crore), and Glenn Maxwell (₹9 Crore).

Punjab Kings (PBKS) take the number one spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the most money spent. They were originally known as Kings XI Punjab, but the team was rebranded as Punjab Kings. However, changing their name did not change their fortunes, and despite spending the most out of any team in the last 10 years, they have been unable to win the IPL title even once. Their top picks in the last 10 years include Sam Curran (₹18.5 Crore), Jhye Richardson (₹14 Crore), Mayank Agarwal (₹12 Crore).
