Mohammed Siraj Replaces Jasprit Bumrah in India team For SA T20Is

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the news stating that Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the ongoing South Africa T20I matches. India’s apex cricket board also revealed that Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the Indian team for the T20I series.

The Proteas are set to play 2 more T20Is against the Men in Blue after losing the first game on September 28 before locking horns in three ODIs. Jasprit Bumrah is reported to have sustained a back injury while practicing with the team on the eve of India’s first T20 clash against the Proteas.  The pace ace also recently missed the entire Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury while also missing 1the series opener in the recently concluded T20Is against Australia.

According to latest reports, the injury to Bumrah could also rule him out of the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup. However, no official confirmation has been shared across by the BCCI or the player. The speedster is rumored to have fractured his back and will most likely miss the flight to Australia.

Mohammed Siraj to fly with Team India for the World Cup?

Citing the injury news to Jasprit Bumrah,  The All India Selection Committee have called up Mohammed Siraj for the remainder of their home T20I series against the Proteas. With the ace pacer’s T20 World Cup spot also in the air, Siraj who has made just five T20I appearances for the Men in Blue could find himself in the running to travel to Australia for the ICC Event.

Mohammed Siraj was not even named in the 4 man reserve player list which was announced alongside India’s T20 World Cup squad. The selectors had opted to go Deepak Chahar and veteran speedster Mohammad Shami instead as the stand-by quicks. However, one of the two could be pushed into the final 15 squad. It could see players like Avesh Khan, Mohammad Siraj and Umran Malik to find a spot in standby list for the T20 World Cup
