Martin Odegaard’s first loan spell came on 10th January 2017 when Dutch club SC Heerenveen agreed to sign him for a period of eighteen months. After a successful loan move away from the club, Real Madrid decided to keep continuing this pattern. They sent him on loan to Vitesse in 2018 and to Real Sociedad in 2019. After an impressive showing at Sociedad, Madrid decided to recall him in 2020. Odegaard started the club’s opening game of the 2020/21 La Liga season, and it looked like the player would finally make a breakthrough for the Los Blancos.
