Marcus Rashford Talks About Joining Barcelona In 2025

Marcus Rashford has officially joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United ahead of the 2025/26 season. The English winger was incredible for United, but as of late, he seems to have lost his spark and his place in the first-team squad. Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim informed Rashford that he was no longer in his plans, which is when the English star decided to move away from the club to try to regain his form. Barcelona was interested in signing him, and Rashford decided to move to La Liga on a season-long loan. Barcelona and Manchester United agreed to terms on 19th July 2025. Rashford agreed to take a 15% pay cut and joined Barcelona on a season-long loan with the deal having an option to buy Rashford for €30 Million. Rashford flew to Barcelona and completed his medical test, and was officially unveiled as a Barcelona player on 23rd July 2025. While Rashford’s place in the first team is not guaranteed, and he will have to work hard to restart his career, he is ready to put in the work and is excited about the prospect of working with Hansi Flick and his new teammates at Barcelona.

Marcus Rashford spoke about his move to Barcelona and what he is looking to achieve with the club. He also spoke about how welcome he felt by the fans and the club since arriving in Barcelona, which is why he already feels comfortable at the club. He said:

“I’m very excited. I think it’s a club every player wants to play for. They’ve made me feel at home in these first few hours; everyone has made me feel very comfortable. It’s simple: I want to win everything. I think this is the best place to win titles. It’s a very ambitious team, and I’ll try to help them however I can. I’ve always enjoyed watching good football. I think I’m going to enjoy playing here. It’s a family club, where great players play. This team won almost everything last year, but I see the ambition everyone has and the desire they have to achieve their best version here.”

Rashford also said that Hansi Flick was a key factor in his decision to move to Barcelona, and it was conversations with him that convinced him to join. He said:

“Hansi Flick was another key factor in my arrival. The conversations I had with him were very positive. He’s proven to be one of the top coaches. He led a young team to such a successful season and came back to preseason wanting more. As a player, we always appreciate the support, and as a new player, I really appreciate the affection the fans are showing me. I feel at home.”

Marcus Rashford had a successful stint with Aston Villa, but he has struggled to regain the form he displayed in the 2022/23 season while playing for Manchester United. However, despite his recent troubles, Barcelona fans have welcomed the winger with open arms and are very excited to see what he can do for them. The Culers are hoping that a move away from England will motivate Rashford to work harder, and he will be able to perform at a level somewhat similar to the one he achieved in the 2022/23 season.
