The English star played as an attacking midfielder and a forward throughout his career and is still the second-highest goal scorer in Manchester United’s history. Charlton started his senior career at Manchester United. He graduated from their youth academy and ended up representing them from 1956 to 1973. Wayne Rooney is arguably the biggest legend in Manchester United’s history. He is regarded as one of the best strikers of all time, and despite everything he achieved, people still feel that he never really reached his peak and could have been one of the best-ever players in history. Rooney loved Manchester United and, many times, sacrificed for them, playing out of position and putting the team ahead of his career. Rooney still ended up breaking the all-time goal-scoring record. He made a total of 559 appearances for the club across 13 seasons and scored 253 goals for them, ending his career at a goals-per-game ratio of 0.45.
